Welcome to the first issue of Paxos
News, Travel a la carte’s newsletter about Paxos.
Those of you who have visited the island will be familiar with its
charms – picturesque villages, clear blue-green water, the buzzing of
cicadas in the olive groves, the easy, tranquil pace of life. These
are some of the attractions which draw people back time and again.
Another is the local life and I know from conversations with Paxos
fans over the years that many of you would like to know more about the
island and its permanent residents once the tourist season is over.
Now we have the chance to find out, as our island manager Chris
Griffiths, his wife Christine and new baby Natasha are spending their
first winter on the island.
Many of you will already know Chris. Travel a la carte is very lucky
to have him as our man on Paxos and I’m very pleased he has come up
with the idea of a newsletter. I’ll be looking forward as much as any
of you to catching up regularly with news and events from that
unspoilt corner of the Ionian.

The editor writes …
Welcome to our very first Paxos News from Travel a la carte. My first hope
is that you will find it interesting and informative, and I'm sure you hope
for the same.
In this first ever edition, we have an article about the olive harvest and a
personal report on our first winter in Greece as well as local news and
gossip. We'll follow a similar format over the next few editions but PLEASE
feel free to email us with information and news you would like to hear about
and we'll do our best.
To navigate your way around the site use the menu on the left above. If ever you
want to visit our main site at
www.travelalacarte.co.uk you can do so from
the logo at the top of every page - and don't worry it'll load a separate
browser so you'll still have the Paxos News on your computer just waiting
for you to come back!
Chris Griffiths
