LOGGOS NEWS
It's all
progressing here in Loggos at the moment. The Car Park (which isn't
used much in the winter) is now covered in stones and the remains of
walls from the Old School Building.

So what's
going on?
The plans are
to build - or rather convert - the Old School building into a Theatre.
Well, it is a Greek word!
Isn't it
too small?
Yes, so they
are building the amphitheatre of seating in the garden at the rear and
the school will have its back wall taken away and become the covered
stage and changing rooms!
What
events will take place here?
With Paxos
being the Village of Culture for 2004 there are to be a number of
performances from other villages around Europe and this will include
plays, dance and music, so some of these (we hope) will take place in
this Theatre. Also, there will be some performances from the local
drama group and of course our wonderful music groups and choirs.
Any chance
of Top Performances?
Yes. I
suppose I can't just leave it there can I? The theatre will be
available to any groups who want to come over and perform. So if you
know of any amateur dramatic groups, or even professionals who would
like to perform in the open air during the summer here in Paxos and
have a holiday with Travel a la carte at the same time -
contact me! I'll do all I can to help
as this will be a worthwhile venture for the island.
As soon as we
have any details of events being held here in the Old School Building
Theatre they'll be posted on the Paxos News site and also on the
Travel a la carte website.

Rubble
outside the school as they work on the conversion

Loggos Out of Bounds to Cars.
'No Entry' signs have been placed on all roads leading into Loggos. The idea
is to stop cars passing along the harbour front. Cars are able to reach the
car park from the Lakka side of the village and, as the bus won't be passing
through either, they should be able to park along the road leading into the
village on the Gaios side. We are not sure what the plans are for the summer
but will keep you informed.
