So much of the
current news about Greece on our screens and radios is bad, we
thought we should try to give a picture of the situation in other
parts of the country apart from Athens and the mainland. For
Travel à
la carte and our customers, this means mainly on the islands of
Paxos, Kefalonia and Symi and two islands which are
major transit points for holidaymakers, Corfu and Rhodes. So we are
starting this news blog to give you, our customers and potential
customers, and anyone else who is interested in or has connections
with our parts of Greece, a proper idea and truthful account of how
local life on our islands is or isn’t being affected by the
tribulations Greece is currently going through. We will also
provide links to other reports and comments in the press and other
blogs which we think are relevant and interesting.
And here is a
taster of the sort of topics we’ll be covering on our blog:
news of the coming
season... what if Greece leaves the euro ... what does your travel
insurance cover... the islands gear up for the new season... how
crucial tourism is for the local economies of the islands: voices of
local Greeks who run tourist related businesses... how foreign
owners and builders of properties on the Greek islands would be
affected by Greece leaving the euro... reports on the state of the
property market on Paxos and elsewhere... what is the likelihood of
strikes affecting holidaymakers to the islands this summer... how
Travel à la carte’s years of experience, local knowledge and
customer care can benefit its customers if things go wrong on the
islands... contacting us and keeping in touch: Skype, MSN messenger,
live chat, mobile phone... tales from the past: experiences of our
staff in tough situations from days gone by, such as September 2011
and the disappearance of the hydrofoils... what is happening to
local costs: food, meals, petrol ... how to save and how to get the
best value when in Greece...
So why not sign up now, if you think
these stories might be interesting, and we will send you an alert
when a new item is posted.
